In the Town of Cloverland, we are proud of our

lakes and proud of the people who live on them, vacation on them, and take care of them. This web site is all about how people are working as a community to keep our lakes healthy and vital. We welcome anyone who wants to know more and do more about that.

Will CLASS pay off for your lake?

The Wrap Up Meeting on July 10 gave us a chance to hear about what has happened on our lakes as part of CLASS.

Now the question is What will happen on our lakes?? With the Onterra surveys finished, who will keep an eye on our lakes -- watching for new plants, fishing patterns, watershed changes?

Each of us on each of our lakes, or no one. What lies ahead for lake residents is pretty much everything that’s important to each of our lakes. That really comes down to community action in terms of awareness and monitoring.

In his closing remarks last Saturday Tim Hoyman issued this warning: I guarantee you that, ten years from now, if I come back and nothing’s been done (in the way of monitoring) on these lakes, there’s a very good chance that some of these lakes are going to have issues that are going to need attention…and that can be a burden.

We invite everyone to join us to work together to heed that warning.

Now the we need to decide what the townwide lake management goals for Cloverland should be. Should they deal with motors on lakes? AIS monitoring? Something else?

Come to the Town Lakes Committee meeting on August 14 and tell us what you think.

A DNR presentation on Understanding Algae starts at 9, the business meeting follows at 10:15.
